Volunteering
To provide the needed services for older people in our neighborhood, we rely on support from people like you! Ways you can assist your neighbors:
- Be a Visitor
Visit with an older person on a regular basis, either in-person or over the phone. Visit on a schedule that works best for both of you. - Provide Transportation
This is the most frequently requested area for volunteer assistance. Provide rides to medical appointments and for essential errands. This can be done on a casual basis as needs arise or you could be matched with one person who could use your ongoing assistance. - Outdoor chores
Assist with fall or spring clean up, garden maintenance, snow shoveling, lawn mowing, or other outdoor chores. Spend a few hours outside getting some exercise and helping a neighbor. - Grocery Shopping Companion
Southeast Seniors is looking for volunteers to take neighborhood seniors grocery shopping 1-2 times/month. A fun opportunity for someone who likes to shop and socialize and wants to make a difference! - Activities Leader/Assistant
- Other Assistance
Other types of assistance are at times requested by older people in our neighborhood, including household projects, reading aloud (for those who are visually impaired), respite care, and other household tasks.
