Volunteering

To provide the needed services for older people in our neighborhood, we rely on support from people like you!  Ways you can assist your neighbors:
  • Be a Visitor
Visit with an older person on a regular basis. Visit on a schedule that works best for both of you.
  • Provide Transportation
This is the most frequently requested area for volunteer assistance. Drive to the grocery store, medical appointments, or other necessary places. This can be done on a casual basis as needs arise or you could be matched with one person who could use your on-going assistance.
  • Outdoor chores
Assist with fall or spring clean up, garden maintenance, snow shoveling or other outdoor chores.  Spend a few hours outside with friends getting some exercise and helping a neighbor.
  • Shopping Assistance
Assist with grocery shopping or errands on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis at a mutually agreed upon time. This simple task can be a great help to someone with limited mobility.
  • Office Help
Help with clerical tasks, preparing mailings, computer work, etc.
  • Oral History Volunteer
Work with one or two people 65 or over to collect their stories about living in their community.  Time frame is September through December - approximately 10 hours total.
  • Other Assistance
Other types of assistance are at times requested by older people in our neighborhood, including household projects, reading aloud (for those who are visually impaired), respite care,  and other household tasks.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please do one of the following:
  • fill out the volunteer form to the  right
  • call us (612-331-2302) or
  • email us.

Thank you!
