Oral History Project - 2018
As part of the 30th Anniversary celebration of Southeast Seniors, 10 volunteers from Marcy Holmes, Prospect Park, and Southeast Como collected stories about community life from 15 residents who were 65 or older. Volunteers attended 3 workshops to learn about the process of oral history, taught by Erica Selzer-Schultz. After completing the interviews, Ben Linzmier, a professional transcriber, transcribed the interviews. The transcriptions are available at the Minnesota Historical Society as well as below.
Southeast Seniors now owns 4 recorders that are available for anyone to use to collect stories of friends, neighbors, or relatives. Capturing the voice and memories of loved ones is priceless.
